WSP is looking for a Principal Track & Alignment Engineer who will be responsible to lead the Trackwork & alignment Design team in their obligation on the Coordination, Interface and production of design activities for submission to the client for one of the delivery packages of a new long distance freight line in the UAE.

Responsibilities

A typical week would include:

Execute / oversee preliminary and detailed design for heavy rail transit projects, including horizontal and vertical track alignments, cross-sections, track drainage, environmental mitigation / protection measures and associated works;
Prepare technical memos on relevant design elements, specifications and non-standard special provisions, and study reports (e.g. Preliminary Design Report);
Develop and prepare technical specifications, and drawings for construction;
Responding to technical issues related to designs;
Provide management support including review of submittals, QA / QC and liaising with the client;
Analyzing of contractual documentation and verifying these are included in design ;
Coordinate input from other disciplines, including managing information sharing and preparing fully integrated designs and reports;
Attend project meetings with clients, contractor and consulting disciplines;
Representing WSP for the alignment and track design towards the contractor and end-client
Prepare study schedules, meeting minutes, and presentation materials;
Supports Design Manager for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan
Participation, review and update of the Interface Management Plan ;
Following Safety (RAMS) requirements regarding the interface & design process ;
Provide proposal preparation support when required;

Requirements

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• 10+ years’ experience related to heavy and / or light rail infrastructure projects;
Technical understanding, design experience, and up-to-date on rail and track technologies and best practices;
Knowledge and understanding of all current and relevant standards, including but not limited to Eurocodes and Arema standards related to track & alignment
Experience with design of track sections and track validation calculations
Track and / or bridge construction experience would be considered an asset;
Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) would be considered as an asset;
Proficient with AutoCAD / Civil 3D and Microsoft Office software; experience with Microstation and InRoads as well would be an asset;
Knowledge of traffic engineering or GIS software would be an asset;
Experience in project management;
Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills;
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take full responsibility for project deliverables;
Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams;
Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills; and
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
