Introduction

Drainage/Sewage Engineer (DSE) will be appointed to support the Drainage Design Department (DDD). The DSE will assist the DDD to perform the design review function, including hydraulic and hydrologic analyses The DSE must have expertise in design standards and specifications for surface drainage and sewerage projects and modelling analysis programs for these systems perform design, constructability and value engineering reviews, evaluate change orders, and other related activities necessary for successful programme delivery. The DSE should also have a thorough understanding of groundwater regimes and construction dewatering systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and recommend modifications, amendments and enhancements to existing design standards, procedures and specifications and programme requirements.
• Provide guidance and discussion with PWA on the implementation of new and updated design standards and requirements, to archived, active and future projects
• Collect background data, mapping, master plans, interface projects design and as-built information, and other information for dissemination to the Consultants.
• Prepare baseline assessments to initiate project handover to consultants.
• Perform design reviews of GEC design packages and supporting documents to assess adequacy and conformance to project scope, budget, schedule, specifications and applicable design standards.
• Perform design reviews of hydraulic models for suitability and compliance, including models for surface and ground water, foul water and recycled water (TSE)
• Manage and maintain the model library of the accepted hydraulic models and provide such to PWA upon request
• Assist DRAINAGE DESIGN DEPARTMENT MANAGER’s and their team with project delivery through the construction and handover phases by providing field support, assisting with evaluation of changed conditions, review of test results and Request for Information (RFI) responses from the GEC, and pre-acceptance site inspections.
• Provide the DRAINAGE DESIGN DEPARTMENT MANAGERS with design support and discussion regarding legacy projects where there is no longer a consultant engaged for the design and assist with revised scope for a new consultant to complete or update the design
• Provide design review and guidance for flood prevention and flood mapping analysis
• Provide a consistent approach to all consultant submittals to ensure quality across all areas
• Provide review and assistance for value engineering of proposed designs, both during formal workshops and also throughout the design review process
• Prepare baseline assessments to initiate project handover to consultants.
• Assist DRAINAGE DESIGN DEPARTMENT MANAGER’s with project delivery through the construction and handover phases by providing field support, assisting with evaluation of changed conditions, review of test results and Request for Information (RFI) responses from the consultant, and pre-acceptance site inspections.
• Continuous coordination with DNDD Drainage Team and consultants during review process to align the design as envisioned and have a pre-consent of Authority that facilitates the approval process when design is forwarded to authority for review/approval.
• Coordination for hot spots with DNDD and DNOM involving data exchange, meetings, liaising with Consultants to maximize the use of assets constructed under Flood Prevention Schemes and maintaining all relevant records for future tracking purposes
• Involved in dealing with public complaints /queries during design/construction phases.
• Involved in meeting stakeholder such as Kharamaa, MME etc. to deal with their requirements.
• Involved in the updating the current standards including Standard Details.


Requirements

* Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required, MSc/MBA is preferred
* Chartered engineers will be given priority
* Minimum 12 years of experience in Drainage Design
