. Design activities:
Main Activities:
- Work within mechanical discipline team assisting with design and technical advice on projects lead by others;
- Assist in the completion of detailed designs;
- Contribute to feasibility reports under the supervision of others;
- Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and contribute to the overall feasibility study for the project;
- Assist in the development of specifications;
- Assist in the production of detailed equipment schedules for issue with the discipline specific design;
- Understand the need for detailed calculations and through training and mentorship, become proficient in both long hand and software methods of calculation related to their discipline;
- Accompany and assist others carrying out condition surveys for the discipline for combining into to an overall report;
- Be able to demonstrate acceptable technical writing skills;
- Work in co-ordination with all other design team members whether internal of external;
- Have good report writing skills;
- Develop an understanding of project risk allied to the discipline and flag these to the WSP project leader;
- Check your own work for compliance with good practice and the project brief;
- Present your work to the WSP project leader for approval prior to issue;
- Participate in value engineering sessions;
- Participate in technical design reviews;
- Develop an understanding of maintenance and installation practices within the design.
- Perform basic levels calculations using appropriate software and sizing tools;
- Prepare services drawings for mechanical infrastructure, piping, ductwork, equipment etc. in
- 2D or 3D as required;
- Prepare mechanical functional schematics and riser diagrams;
- Prepare bill of quantities and equipment lists.
2. Supervision activities
Main Activities:
- Assist at inspection and monitoring of the progress of the mechanical works as the designer’s representative, aiming to ensure the works are carried out at an appropriate quality, and are in accordance with the Designer’s specifications;
- Undertake site inspections and prepare Technical Due Diligence reports;
- Assist in compiling final documents for handover;
- Prepare progress and technical reports as required;
- Assist at testing & commissioning process and provide reports as required;
- Respond to contractor queries and attend site progress meetings.


- Relevant Engineering degree (Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering/Building Services
- or similar);
- 2 years previous experience in Building Services design is a considerable advantage;
- High proficiency of English reading, writing and speaking;
- Demonstrate good attention to detail and show pride in the work produced;
- Develop an understanding of the mechanical Romanian/European regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation;
- Develop an understanding of working with Magicad or other 3D design software.

Develop knowledge of the following Mechanical Skills:
- Heating, cooling and ventilation distribution systems;
- Sizing calculations using appropriate software as instructed;
- Mechanical calculations by hand;
- Energy efficiency features of Mechanical services systems;
- Life safety systems design (CO, smoke exhaust systems etc.);
